tulip pedestal dining set.
Sold, sorry.
florence knoll said of eero saarinen that he was the best designer she had ever worked with. evidence of this is that many of his designs have been consistently produced or reissued since the 1950s. the american architect with finnish roots designed the ‚pedestal‘ collection in 1957, the furniture manufacturer knoll has had it in their product range since 1958. the tables, chairs and ashtrays are all balancing on just one leg each. this futuristic design can be found on the command bridge of the starship „uss enterprise“ as well as in stanley kubrick’s „space odyssey“.
our dining set, consisting of a round dining table and 6 side chairs, dates back to the 1970s and is in very good vintage condition.
the white colour of the plastic seat shells differs slightly from the powder-coated cast aluminium legs – this is partly due to the different materials, partly due to the normal aging process. The table top is coated with white laminate and shows 2 small missing flakes of lacquer on the edge. the cushions are soft and has the original Knoll fabric in red/orange.
