Francesco pasinato, antibeige

the poetic chair.

francesco pasinato (1935-2003), born in padua, italy, lived as a painter, sculptor, designer and gallery owner in saabrücken, germany. besides his better-known drawings he created playful sculptures and wallpanels from wood and metal. he also produced outstanding sculptural furniture in an imaginative organic style, like his series of chairs. every piece is individual, the free form design makes the backrest look like a silhouette cut out of wood, transforming a piece of furniture into applied art. even though these chairs are often classified as “brutalist style”, their imaginative and skillfully crafted uniqueness makes them almost a genre unto themselves: let’s call it: poetic design.

the seat is flat, making it ideal for use as a storage surface or small table.
