seating with respect/3. (the easy chairs pk 31)
Sold, sorry.
poul kjaerholm (denmark, 1929-80) is one of the most important furniture designers of the midcentury era. vintage originals are immensely sought after and sold at design auctions to collectors worldwide. as a trained carpenter kjaerholm developed a particular interest in different construction materials, especially steel, which he considered a natural material with the same artistic fineness as other natural materials. and, from a more personal point of view: he’s the author of our favourite piece of furniture overall: the wall-mounted pk 26 sofa.
the pk 31 is a true design icon: a lounge chair that also works as a modular element, enabling the production of sofas in variable length, so the number and arrangement of seating could be adapted to the room it was meant for. this combination of architectural, interior design and industrial thinking is characteristic for kjaerholm – and it contributed to the long-term success of his designs. the clean lines and harmonic proportions gave the pk 31 a sleek impression, even seen from behind, so it was ideal for larger reception areas.
again, we proudly presents a complete suite of pk 31 pieces: a three-seater sofa, pk 31/3 with two matching lounge chairs pk 31, all in dark brown leather. matt, chrome-plated spring steel frame with wood-framed panels and down-filled cushions in leather. made by fritz hansen, 1980s. the set comes in good vintage condition, no structural damages. the leather shows a distinctive patina and scratches.*
