gio ponti, antibeige, vintage, parco dei principi

mediterranean blue.

Sold, sorry.

Most people say that blue is their favourite colour – but not every blue is the same. There are shades of blue that immediately trigger associations: The skyblue of the Twitter logo for some people, for others its maybe the ink blue of their first school fountain pen. Here we have a blue that immediately makes you think of Italy: The bright blue of a mediterranean sea makes this small wooden sidetable unique and lovable.

It is attributed to Gio Ponti – the wooden joints and tapered legs are very similar to those he used in his ‚Parco dei Principi‘ hotel project in Sorrento. Gio Ponti (1891 – 1979) is one of the most important Italian designers of the 20th century. He opened his first architectural office in 1927, founded the magazine ‚Domus‘, was director of the Milan Triennale and professor at the Politecnico Milano. From cutlery to the Pirelli skyscraper, from the Pavoni coffee machine to the Superleggera chair – his designs were always characterised by elegance and innovation.

A simple and puristic small sidetable in ash with a blue laminate top,  in very good vintage condition (which shows some super fine scratch marks). Origin: Italy, probably 1960’s.
