one of the most famous and recognizable sixties furniture designs is the platner chair. here we have a set of four in good vintage condition – and you could decide how to restore them: should it be another classic woolen fabric, maybe in green this time? how about a blue velvet by raf simmons? or shall we go really funky with a zig-zag fabric by Missoni? take your chance and get creative!
american architect and designer warren platner developed a whole series of wire furniture in 1962. each piece is made of hundreds of nickel-plated steel rods, welded by hand, what made the production extremely complex and intricate. The chairs immediately attracted a great deal of attention – and fame: cult detective columbo, played by peter falk, chills 1968 in platner’s easy chair and a whole lounge of platner chairs is blown up in 007 ‚quantum of solace‘.
this set of four platner chairs is is in a very good vintage condition with original red knoll fabrics, slightly faded (customizable upon request). age-related patina (flash rust) on metal surfaces.
