dutch modern.
the „pyramid chair“ by wim rietveld, manufactured by ahrend de cirkel, is definitely one of our favorite chairs. it was awarded the „signe d’or“ design prize in brussels in 1960 and is rarer to find today than its two predecessors „result“ and „revolt“, which were created in collaboration with friso kramer.
the lines are even more reduced than those of the „result“, the backrest support and the front chair legs merge smoothly into one another. this gives the chair its filigree and elegant appearance and ensures that it does not appear too dominant even in smaller rooms – for example at the breakfast table in the apartment kitchen. frame made of folded steel profiles, seat and backrest of teak-veneered plywood.
This chair is an early version, stamped 24 Feb. 1964 and comes from our private collection, which we are now dissolving piece by piece due to lack of space. It shows a beautiful patina but has no structural damage.
